Oribi
The Oribi (Ourebia ourebi) is a gracious small antelope with long, slender neck and legs, and oval ears. The glossy coat is rufous-brown with white rump and underparts, and the tail is black. Close to the inner corners of the eyes are two large pre-orbital glands. Ewes are slightly larger than rams. Only the rams have short, straight horns of 80-180 mm, which are ringed at the base and smooth at the tips. Primarily a grazer, the Oribi prefers fresh grasses. They display a distinctive “stotting” action when alarmed, which entails vertical leaps with straight legs.
